Elijah B. Torn is a musician, composer & recording artist, focused primarily upon the arena of original sampling, synthesizer and creative drum programming. He plays electric bass and guitar, which are used as the centerpieces for creating fresh textures & sounds, at his own hands.

Elijah has been creating organic and electronic music for over fifteen years; his level of comfort and ease with computer and synthesizer technology allows him to concentrate on what matters most - quality music. There is no "preset" mentality, here, so each project can be seen to have fulfilled its own, special 'voice'.

Elijah is available to do session work both on location or in his own studio. Based on the project, he may add a characteristic fat-gritty bass synthesizer, refined ambient elements of organic origin, or digitized Lo-Fi beats. With a combination of synthesizers & samplers, Elijah creates a customized sound for the musical needs at hand. His focus on these individual needs and wants allows him to create an end product that is always complementary to your original music.

Elijah’Äôs solo album, Sarge's Shukar Rough, has received airplay on several radio stations and programs, including Los Angeles' most listened-to morning radio program, KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" hosted by Nic Harcourt and WNYC's "New Sounds" hosted by John Schaefer. He has also released a sample disc CD-Rom designated for other producers' and musicians' crafts.

He is an upstate lab experiment gone horribly wrong - a series of highly premeditated and chaotic hand-wired electronic devices firing off to soothing textures and distorted beats. This forms the groundwork for his unique live performances, which are not to be missed. In New York City, Torn has performed at CBGB's, The Knitting Factory, Galapagos, North Six, Splice, Piano's, The Tank, as a featured artist at Warper Parties, and film festivals. He has also played at The Black Cat in Washington D.C., The Ottobar in Baltimore, and venues in San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest including the basements of bowling alleys and pizzerias.

Elijah also composes, mixes, and provides sound design for commercials and television networks such as HBO, Court TV, and Encore. To view his commercial reel please click HERE.

He is available for remix work and live performance, both solo and with other acts.

Artists of different styles and genres continue to request Elijah for fresh reinterpretations of their work. He has collaborated with artists such as Octofist,Alex McQuilkin, Simon Ampel, Alexander Lasarenko, Betray The Species, Quinn, Splattercell and Sleepwalker.

Elijah lives and works in New York City. His second solo album, You Are Lucky I am Not a Vigilante, is set for release in Fall 2006.
